With 11 varieties, pistachio trees are cultivated in 18 countries, including Iran, the United States (California), Turkey, Greece, Afghanistan, Italy, Uzbekistan and Tunisia.
For pistachios, varieties are relevant during the production process, once on the market, only origins are mentioned. Esprit Gourmand favours pistachios from Iran, Greece and Sicily for their shapes, their intense colour and taste.
The Italian and Greek pistachios are mainly used for savoury creations when the Iranian pistachios are used in our pastry range, in particular for the pistachio paste.
